Costero
Released in 2017 by Huston based multi-instrumentalist and composer Matt Kidd, who as Slow Meadow writes pastoral and deeply emotive compositions.
‘Costero’ is a minimal and wistful collection of sketches for piano and string quartet. It is a beautiful sounding ensemble - a modern and uplifting take on chamber music.
In the soft focus motifs you can hear influences and connections to contemporary minimalists such as Ólafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm and also the Romantic-era greats such as Satie and Chopin.
This is one of my favourite albums to unwind to, it is so gentle and soothing; like a musical warm blanket gently wrapping around you. Cielo Rojo (Red Sky) and "Boy in the Water Globe" are the stand out pieces for me.
